crispy gujrati snack!!!

Can be a yummy tea time snack in the rainy evenings. You can make it with palak leaves as well.

Ingredients vegetarian 1 servings


    • 5 to 6  colocasia (Arbi) leaves
    • 1 ½ cups  gram flour
    • ½ tsp turmeric powder
    • 1 tsp red chilly powder
    • 1 pinch asafetida powder
    • 3 to 4 tbsp tamarind water
    • Sugar to taste
    • Salt to taste

    For Tempering:

    • 1 tsp - sesame seeds
    • ½ tsp - cumin seeds
    • 2 to 3 tbsp - oil
    • 1 pinch - asafetida

    For Garnish:

    • 2 tbsp  freshly grated coconut
    • 1 tbsp chopped coriander leaves

    Directions

    1. Wash and dry the colocasia leaves.
    2. Make a paste of gram flour, turmeric powder, red chilly powder, asafetida, salt and sugar to taste.
    3. Mix well. Use tamarind water to make the paste.
    4. Place up the wrong side of the leaves and smear some paste evenly.
    5. Place each leaf one on top of the other and fold in a roll.
    6. In a steamer, steam the rolls for about 20-25 minutes till done.
    7. Check by inserting a knife. It should come out clean.
    8. Cut into small pieces after it has cooled down.
    9. Next heat oil in a kadhai; add sesame seeds, cumin seeds and asafetida.
    10. Add the patras in the pan and toss lightly.
    11. Cook for 5 minutes on low flame till crisp.
    12. Garnish with freshly grated coconut and coriander leaves.
